User questions

  • What does BMR mean?

    Your BMR (Basal metabolic rate) shows how many calories your body needs when resting. To calculate this, you must indicate how 'active' your day is. This way your BMR can be calculated and you will learn how many calories you need to consume in order to: lose weight, stay at the same weight or even gain weight.

    The buddy systems allow you to connect with other users and support each other on the way towards reaching your goals! • How will the Youw8 recognize the users?

    The Youw8 recognizes you automatically based on certain parameters that get checked when you step on to the scale. Within a family, the differences in parameters will large enough so that the scale will accurately recognize the different users.
  • What does BMI mean?

    BMI stands for Body Mass Index, and is a number that determines whether or not a person has a 'healthy' weight. It is an indication of a person's health and is used worldwide by doctors and dieticians. Medically speaking, the BMI for a person with a 'healthy' weight should fall somewhere between 18 and 25 (under 18 is considered 'underweight' and unhealthy. This person should try to gain weight). When it falls between 25 and 27, this is an indication that a person is starting to become too heavy. When it falls between 27 and 30 you are advised to lose weight! Does it fall over 30? Then weight-loss is absolutely essential, if the person in question does not want to risk medical complications! The Youw8 widget will measure your BMI and present you result in the form of a colour.

    yellow = underweight
    green = a healthy weight
    orange = be carefull, you are starting to become too heavy
    red = obesity; you are at risk of developing medical complications

  • Creating multiple accounts

    Via the button that allows you to sign up, you can create your own account. It must be taken into account, however, that any particular e-mail address can only be used once! In case multiple people wish to create an account, but there is only one e-mail address available, we advise you to add a number to the end of the e-mail address the next time you sign a new user up. (For example: youw8@youw8.com2)

  • How can I remove measurements?

    Go to the Weight Widget. From here you need to select the option 'Detail', and it is in this screen that you will be able to click 'Remove Items'. After doing this, every measurement will now present a circle containing a cross. By clicking the cross you can remove a desired measurement. These measurements will then go to the folder for unknown measurements (the envelope in the right hand corner) and from here you will be able to reassign the measurement to another user, if need be, or delete the measurement altogether.

  • What is the best time to weight myself?

    We advise to always use the scale under the same circumstances, once or twice a week. Measure yourself in the mornings, preferably without clothes, when you have been rested, are not dehydrated, and after you have just used the lavatory. The most important aspect of measuring, is to measure the developments over a larger period of time.

  • What does the flashing envelope in the right hand corner mean?

    if the envelope in the right hand corner is winking, this can mean the following:
    - you have an unanswered buddy request
    - measurements have been registered that deviate too much, and therefore could not have been assigned to a profile. You can either assign these measurements to an account or delete them altogether.

  • The Internet Body Monitor isn't starting up.

    Please check if the batteries have been inserted correctly and are facing in the correct direction.

  • Easy to install

    • When opening the box, you will first see the scale under the protective packaging. You can insert the included batteries in the battery compartment on the back side of the scale.
    • After this, please take the small, white receiver, and place it next to your broadband internet modem and connect it with the included Ethernet-cable to your modem: you can use a free Ethernet port for this purpose. You don't need to install any software on your PC.side of the scale. Now you can place the scale in the preferred room!
  • '- - - - ' appears on the display

    The Internet Body Monitor weighs up to 150kg (330 lbs). A larger weight will result in this error message.

  • 'Lo' appears on the display

    This error message means the batteries need to be replaced. All information has been saved on the Internet. Therefore you will not lose any data when replacing the batteries.

  • The blue light keeps winking

    If the blue LED keeps winking, it means that the receiver is not able to make a connection with the Youw8 server. This could have many different causes. The following three are the most likely:
    • The factory settings of your Youw8 receiver have been changed. In this case u can reset the unit to Factory default, please follow following steps:
      • use a paperclip to press the reset button for 10 sec (the LED will give 2 short flashes during the activation of the reset button)
      • unplug the 5Volt and wait 3 sec and reconnect.
      • after 30 sec the LED should be blue.
    • Your firewall is blocking one of the following ports: 80, 123, 4097 or 4098, please check the firewall settings of your router.
    • The Youw8 receiver doesn't get an IP address. Make sure the DHCP server is active (please reboot the Youw8 receiver)
  • What if the presented measurements vary?

    The scale should always be placed on a hard and flat surface (stone or wood floor). Try to stand as still as you can during measurements. A difference of 500 g between two measurements is perfectly normal, and can be caused simply by stepping onto the scale in a different manner than before. Like mentioned earlier, it is important to focus on the long term trajectory of your measurements, and not individual measurements.
